F$#@ MLM, I’m Going to The Zoo!!

My brother, David, recently wrote an excellent post on the importance of Supporting Your Spouse in their MLM. His points were well put, and I believe that this subject is ignored a little too often. If someone is our other half, our partner, our best friend, doesn’t it just make sense to support them in their dreams and vision?

…Now I realize that Might Not always be the case, if you aren’t best friends Or you even Hate each other, you should either be looking at counseling or moving on because there is not point on spending your life riddled with misery… but we’re not talking about that today.

What we are here to discuss is the flip side to my brother’s brilliant rant. Sacrifice may be important to the success of your business, but DON’T sacrifice the integrity of your Family. If you aren’t being supported in your business, it might be because you are ignoring the needs of those you should love the most.

If you are the other half to someone that is trying to build their MLM business, and you are actively pouring water on their fire, and crushing their dreams…. SHAME on You! What if you had a dream that you were excited about and they told you that you couldn’t do it, or that you should quit?

However, if you Are IN an MLM and you are IGNORING your Family for the sake of your Business… You should be taken out back and Flogged like a Whipping Boy! I realize this is a bit of a difficult subject because there is a delicate balance here. How much time do you spend on your business, and how much do you set aside for your family?

The first thing to think about is do you have kids? Personally, I have a 3 year old son, and a 1 year old daughter, and they need their Dad. I’m never going to get these young years back and I want to cherish them forever. My lover and my children are my world, everything I do, and all the work and hours I put into my business is for them. For them, I would take bullets and slay dragons if I had to.

The reason that we get into network marketing is typically so that we can spend More Time with our families, not ignore them completely. Spouses should have a serious one on one when they get into business, so they can find that delicate balance between business and family.

Personally, I would suggest giving up beer and football time before taking time away from my 1 year old, three year old, and Lover. Don’t misinterpret what I am saying, you may have to cut into that family time, but it would probably be a good idea set aside some time each week just for the family… if you want your relationships to strengthen and last.

What do I do? Well, sometimes I just have to say, “F@#$ MLM, I’m going to the Zoo!” Once a week, I take MOST of the day off and spend it with my family. The other six days, I work most of the day, and spend a small portion of it with my family.

“But Aki, What if I am working a full time job and trying to do MLM Part Time?” Plan, Plan, Plan; I promise you there is time for everything if you set goals and plan out your day. Planning together as a couple can also be key, because then your spouse doesn’t feel Left Out. Sometimes your Partner just needs to be included.

They might tell You, “I hate That Stupid Pyramid Scheme! I Want You to Quit Right Now, You ##$#ing Lazy @#$@! You’ve Been Doing That for 4 Months and Aren’t Making any @#$ing Money! Quit! Just Quit Dammit!”

However, they might really mean, “I’m lonely and horny and I miss you and all you do is sit in front of that damn computer, and wander around in shopping malls trying to find prospects. Will you PLEASE pay some attention to me?” Sometimes Gentlemen, we need to read between the lines, and do crazy things like Communicate and Ask Questions.

So in conclusion, if you are either a crazy spouse that is not supporting your MLM partner, OR if you are a sleazy bastard that is using your MLM to hide from your family, you should be beaten with sticks. Pull together, plan, and accomplish your dreams as a team. Find time for communication, sex, and fun because if you can’t enjoy the journey, you might as well find a new path.
