Rastelli Direct: Way Better Than Freeze Dried Turds

Some good friends of mine approached me and asked if I would give my professional opinion on Rastelli Direct. I agreed to give a fair, third party evaluation of the company. I don’t market for Rastelli, and don’t currently have any interest in doing so, but if you are looking into the opportunity, this unbiased informative review on them will help you make your decision.

Honestly, having a quality product makes no difference whether or not you are going to make money in Network Marketing. There are people that have made millions in the industry with products that they themselves didn’t even like. A good salesman might retort, “You should always believe in the product you are selling.” Personally, I agree, there are however 2 ways to look at what is actually being sold in network marketing.

The main product of any opportunity is first yourself, and second the dream. If you can help someone realize that they can have a better life and get out of the rut system, they will buy freeze dried turds for a $200 autoship, and tell people it is the greatest weight loss product known to man.

Honestly, that would be a pretty good weight loss product; I don’t know very many people that would have much of an appetite after eating a turd. Maybe I should start a new MLM.

For some reason, even though I know this, I just can’t bring myself to promote a product that I don’t believe in. This is the cool thing about Rastelli Direct; rather than getting a freeze dried turd, you get freeze dried filet Mignon, and fine dining, restaurant quality food sent to your door. I am not currently looking for an opportunity, but I must say, Rastelli certainly meets the “Product” standard I look for when choosing an opportunity. They might not have the lowest prices you can find while bargain shopping for the food they sell, but their pricing is at least fair and competitive.

Omaha Steaks is an online competitor with a similar product, and Rastelli is very competitive with their pricing, and often less expensive. The mission of the company is to allow people to eat quality food for free; they even donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity that feeds the needy.

Rastelli Direct is not a new company by any means, it was founded over 30 years ago by Ray Rastelli in 1976. It started out as a tiny shop that stocked the highest quality foods for restaurants, and over the past 30 years he turned it into a booming company that has 800 million in sales per year. The bulk of their sales, up until their MLM launch in 2010, was from supplying restaurants with high quality food. The food is now available to the general public, and can be delivered to your door, through this ground floor network marketing opportunity.

There are 2 sides to this; the age and history of the company is both a positive and a negative when looking at joining the opportunity. First of all, a company of this magnitude, in almost all cases, has a considerable debt load. I tried to find the debt to income ratio for Rastelli to do a financial analysis, but had some trouble locating the information. My best guess, based on their track record, is that Rastelli has fairly good financial backing, but I would confirm this before making a final decision.

One very positive thing about Rastelli is that you have a reputable company, with a high quality product to represent. While a lot of MLMs are out there selling the “Dream” with freeze dried turds, Rastelli has a product that you should be able to develop a good retail base for as well, and you can be proud to represent it.

The biggest downside to the company is that, though they are seasoned in the business world, they are new to the network marketing arena. It would not surprise me if the corporate sales team, 5, or 10 years down the road, decided that a “traditional business model” would be a better avenue for them to pursue. I hope for all of the distributors that are involved that this won’t be the case, and I’m not saying it will happen, but it is a possibility.

A quick analysis of the compensation plan is that it is fair. There are certainly ways to make money with Rastelli. It doesn’t appear to have the highest payouts I have ever seen, but the cost to become an associate is very low(about $50), and the monthly commitment is only $75, and you get gourmet food sent to your door for it. The faster you build your Rastelli business, the more money you can make; many of their incentives are doubled if you can do it within a certain time frame.

My professional analysis is that Rastelli Direct is a good company with a product that you can be proud of. They are not a scam, you can make money with them, and I am pretty sure that you won’t regret buying your monthly auto ship purchase; they even have cheesecake factory items for desert. The biggest thing that would concern me if I were looking into it would be the corporate team leading the company. As with any ground floor opportunity, there is a higher chance for reward, and a higher risk associated with it.

At least with this one your main risk is being stuck with a freezer full of delicious steaks.

I firmly recommend 2 things if you are going to align yourself with Rastelli Direct:

Learn the art of Personal Branding. Basically, you need to be selling yourself more than you are selling the company, and opportunity. If the Rastelli MLM opportunity lasts 1 million years, you will be better off by getting more leads and building a larger team. If they decide a “more traditional model” is going to be of the best interest to the company, you will have a group of dedicated followers that you can lead into your next venture.
