What Your Upline Doesn’t Know, or Isn’t Telling You

Duplication: Something that the most or least experienced marketer can do, whether they are 2 miles or 1000 miles away from their upline, and a dud can do it to a stud!  Don’t do anything if it isn’t Duplicable! Does that sound familiar?  If it doesn’t, you probably haven’t been to very many network marketing trainings.  My big question for you today is:

“Who Came Up With That

Load of Crap???”

Don’t get me wrong, there are some elements of this that make a lot of sense, but is that really what the 2% of network marketers that are having massive success are actually doing?  Absolutely not.  How many big leaders that you know handed out 2 dvds a day for five years and woke up rich?  Yes… there are a handful of people that have made some money doing that, but most big leaders actually understand the concept of marketing, and the fact that we are in a people business.

I have a newsflash for everyone in the MLM industry:  PEOPLE ARE NOT DUPLICABLE! We are in a people business, are we not?  Isn’t the beauty behind mankind that we are all different?  Every human on the planet has a slightly different set of skills; we look different, we act different, we talk different and we ARE different.

School really screws with peoples heads.  If you are good at English, but horrible at math, they go and get you a math tutor, while ignoring your reading and writing skills as, “Good Enough.” It is a common fact that people get paid jack shit for being Average at anything.  I played basketball in High School, and honestly, back then I was pretty good.  When I was 18 I decided to stop playing basketball and to start surfing.  If I were going to step on a court tomorrow, guess how many people pay to watch me play basketball?  My parents would out of sympathy, but they are in South Africa right now, so I would just be stuck in an empty gym by myself bricking layups.

Doesn’t it make more sense to focus on our strengths rather than our weaknesses?   Improving our weaknesses makes sense, but focusing on them and trying to “Balance” ourselves doesn’t follow any logic at all.  Those who get paid gobs of money in this life are those who are exceptionally good at their own personal talent and niche…   So what does this have to do with duplication?

Again, we are in a people business, and no two people have the same set of talents.  I could have an upline that is a Dynamo when it comes to going to gyms and getting leads by striking conversations with those around him.  “It’s Easy,” He Says, “All you have to do is go to a gym with 2 DVD’s in your Hand and give it to 2 people while you are working out!  I’ve made a fortune doing it!”

…Just so you know, I highly advise against using that marketing technique because it got me roofied by a homosexual guy at the LA Fitness in downtown Phoenix.  Apparently he didn’t understand that I “just wanted to pitch my business.” Yes, I managed to escape with my anal virginity, in case you were wondering… nevertheless, it was a horrifying experience.

My brother David is a master internet marketer.  Guess what, copying his videos or articles exactly isn’t going to get you anywhere.  Cedrick Harris is the best closer that I have ever seen.  Well, I could try for years to talk like that, but I probably would never get it down… for starters, I can’t talk that fast, I’m not black, and I don’t have a southern accent.

Duplicating the principles they use is one thing, but put your own style to it; neither Cedrick or David do things the same way, and both of them use different techniques than Eric Worre.  Find the talent that YOU have, find the leader that has similar talents, and copy the Principles THEY are using, but with your own style.

Let’s move onto my favorite lie about duplication: “Go make a list of all of your friends and family, invite them over to your house, and have a meeting!” Does this technique actually work?  Well, the answer to that is YES.  However, it doesn’t work for everyone.  Do Randy Gage, Eric Worre, or Jeff Olsen have the same quality prospects on their list than you do?  Does a Lawyer or an established businessman have the same quality list as an employee of Taco Bell?  Are you willing to make 100 phone calls, have 20 people say they will be there, and 7 people show up?

Who do you think is going to have better results at their home business meeting for their new MLM venture, Donald Trump, or “Bubba,” the dyslexic gas station attendant?  I’m not trying to be discouraging, I’m just giving the truth about the numbers.

How do we get paid in MLM?  From the sale of product, be that to new distributors, customers, or override commissions from our downline.  Do I have the same talents as my upline?  No.  Does My Upline have the Same talents as me?  Of course not.  Guess what, that is a good thing.  I know this is hard to believe, but there are people out there that don’t like me, my style, or the way I do things at all.  That same person might like you, and want to join Your business.

The one thing that really sucks for new people is that most of them don’t have a very good list.  Poor Bubba doesn’t stand a chance at building a downline as fast as Donald Trump.  The key to having success in Network Marketing is simply the Power of the List; Donald has a much better list than Bubba.  When Donald calls people, they show up.  When Bubba calls people they hang up.  So how can poor Bubba stand a chance to have success in Network Marketing?

Bubba, just like most of the people in the industry, needs to build a new list.  So what is the secret to building a list of people that will show up, rather than hang up when you call?  There is a trick to this, and I’m feeling generous so I’m going to show it to you.  Just click the link below for my free training on how to build a New, Better List.
