The “Spudd Effect”

Yes, I call this “The Spudd Effect.” How many times have you heard it, “Cut Your Hair, You Need to LOOK Professional.”

Or, “Tuck in your shirt, You LOOK Sloppy!”

And, “Dress For Success.”

I’ve got a new philosophy, and this video tells the story better that I could.  The next 3 minutes and 27 seconds are going to make you re-think a lot of the bull shit that has been fed you by a lot of People who don’t know what they are talking about.  You can look good, smell good, “Act” Successful, and be broke.

I’m sure you’ve heard someone mutter the frustrating words in hind site, “…Well it LOOKED good on paper, but….” Would you rather Look it, or Be It?  I’m not saying you can’t have both, but who the hell came up with the idea that one led to the other?

The Universe is what we believe it to be; so what do you want to do? Will you go out to please the masses, or demand that the status-quo bend knee as you walk to claim your prize?

Are you spending your time going for the “Look?” Or are you out there making it happen?

    This makes me think of that whole “Fake it til you make it” crap. That’s gotta be the worst advice I’ve ever heard…. How about this instead “suck it up and have the guts to be who you really are because the ones that matter will appreciate that much more than a phony”

      Exactly. I for one am sick of simply buying into the rhetoric of the past. All we need to do is decide the reality we want to create, and the universe will flow around us like water as we make it happen.

      I’ve noticed through observation that so many of the traditional ‘rules’ of success(particularly the ones that preach conformity) are constantly being proven false by those who either don’t know or could care less that they exist.

    Great post Aki. I heard someone once say that he would rather say that ‘I is broke’and have a million dollars in his account, than be grammatically correct, all suited up and have no money.

      I like that Ruth, and it is exactly what I am talking about. Henry Ford had bad grammar and spelling too, and when a reporter started to poke fun at him, he said something like, “I don’t need to know that crap, at the push of a button I can be surrounded by 15 men that can answer that question for me.”

      Why do so many people spend so much time focusing on their weaknesses? Isn’t it the strengths we have that make us great? I’ve seen no man make a great deal of difference in the world(or make a considerable paycheck) from taking a weakness and becoming average at it, but many great men have changed the world by taking their strengths to great levels.

      Awesome… and yes, it is nice to get dressed up sometimes, I’m just curious why someone tried to sell us the idea that it is a necessity.
